The Compulsory Social Security System is critically important for the Social Welfare of a nation, the improvement of the life quality of its citizens, the future security and tranquillity of workers and their families, whilst ensuring the necessary income for the retirement of workers, in case of death of a socially insured person or pensioner or in case of increased family expenses of insured persons and pensioners.

With the strategic vision of progressively reforming and modernizing the Mandatory Social Protection System, a set of instruments has been implemented since 2005, without which Social Security would not reach the evolution registered in this period, with a notable increase in taxpayers, insured persons and retired, namely:

  • Modernization and Development Plan of the National Institute of Social Security, PMDI 2005-2009;
  • Social Security Quality and Sustainability Plan, PQ3S, 2011-2013;
  • Sustainability and Social Security Management Plan, PSGSS, 2014-2018
  • Sustainability and Social Security Management Plan - Extension, PSGSS-Extension, 2018-2019

It is through these instruments that the INSS of Angola has been consolidating an exceptional growth. In the period between 2005 and 2018, the National Institute of Social Security increased by 145,629 the number of contributors, an evolution of 1,550%.
